Father Matt Alexander is a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago and serves at St. Mary of the Annunciation in Mundelein as the associate pastor. Before pursuing priesthood, he had completed his undergraduate studies in philosophy at Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio where he had first found and responded to his calling to be a priest of Jesus Christ. Fr. Matt entered the seminary in 2010, graduated from Mundelein Seminary in 2015, and, shortly thereafter, was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Chicago. In 2017, Fr. Matt completed his Licentiate in Sacred Theology from Mundelein Seminary.
Fr. Matt Alexander grew up in Hoffman Estates and is the second of three children. Having learned his faith from his parents, Fr. Matt attended St. Hubert’s Catholic Grade School and went on to graduate from Schaumburg High School. His interests include playing ultimate frisbee and other sports, reading Catholic novels, playing the guitar, watching the Cubs and Blackhawks, and going on backpacking trips with his brother priests. Being a priest of Jesus Christ is a tremendous joy for Fr. Matt. In his calling to be a spiritual father, Jesus is brought into the world in the Eucharist and in the sacraments.
