On the night before He died, Jesus celebrated the Passover meal with His disciples in a new way. The meal that Jesus celebrated is the Last Supper. While Jesus and his disciples ate, Jesus took bread and blessed it. He then broke it and gave it to His disciples saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then Jesus took a cup of wine and gave thanks. He gave the cup to his disciples saying, “Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood.” At the Last Supper, Jesus told his disciples to bless and break bread in his memory. He gave us the Eucharist which is the Source and Summit of our Christian Life.
