All parish seniors are invited to join the St. Mary Senior Ministry. The group will meet on the second Tuesday of each month for a social gathering at the parish. The ministry will also plan small outings and events to offer opportunities to stay connected, active and merry. Stay tuned for postings of future activities and events!

The St. Mary Senior Ministry is headed to the East Troy Railroad Museum in Wisconsin for its upcoming outing on Mon., September 21. Travel via coach bus from St. Mary to the railway museum, where you will ride on a historic, electric-powered train through the Wisconsin countryside. Lunch and shop at the Elegant Farmer, a local farm-themed deli and market, and return to St. Mary via bus mid-afternoon.

At the July meeting, members learned about our parish school Frassati Catholic Academy and the exciting things in store for our students this Fall.
This beloved revue will have you in stitches as the five sisters stage a variety show fundraiser filled with outrageous musical numbers and zany comedy. Cost for lunch and the show is $105/person. Deadline to RSVP was July 9th. Contact Sue Poletto about any cancellations. Poletto@comcast.net

Lake County Agency on Aging Resources will present an overview of programs and resources available to older adults and caregivers. Gain clarity on eligibility and how to connect individuals with the right local providers. The focus of the program is to strengthen collaboration and ensure older adults can age safely, independently and with dignity in their communities.
Travel by coach bus to Lake Geneva for an afternoon cruise and lunch with Lake Geneva Cruise Lines. Boat is climate controlled to be comfortable in any weather. Cost of the trip includes transportation, boat cruise tickets, lunch and gratuity – $90 per person.
Join the Senior Ministry outing will be to Metropolis Theater for the show, We’ve Only Just Begun, and lunch at Peggy Kinnane’s Irish Pub. Dr Matthew Blumlein OD and the team from Coventry Eye care in Crystal Lake will explain all aspects of senior eye care. They will discuss glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataract issues and steps to aid their prevention. Glasses adjustments will also be offered during their visit.
Travel by coach bus to Fireside Theater in Wisconsin on December 18th for lunch and a matinee performance of “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Cost for the trip is $110/person and includes bus transportation, tickets to the show, lunch and all gratuities. Please note this takes the place of the regular December meeting.
Join the St. Mary Senior’s meeting in the parish meeting rooms on Tuesday, November 11th. White Crane Wellness Center will join us to talk about dealing with dementia and Alzheimer’s and offer ideas on keeping engaged socially and emotionally.
In October, Mobile Integrated Healthcare – Community Paramedic Program will visit to share information on free non-emergency Healthcare services to support seniors with health and wellness and connect them to community services and resources. Click here to read more about the program.
In September the Senior Ministry outing will be to Metropolis Theater for the show, My Kind of Town, Chicago Stars Sing Broadway and lunch at Magos Mexican Restaurant. Tickets are limited and registration is required along with payment prior to September 15th. Please note there will be no meeting at the parish in addition to the outing.
In August, White Crane Wellness Center will join us to talk about falling: causes, solutions, isolation, safety tips, how to talk to your doctor, & the importance of keeping active. Meeting is at 2:00 p.m. in the parish meeting rooms on August 12th.
Join the Senior Ministry trip to the beautiful Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist in Milwaukee Wisconsin on July 8th. Travel by charter bus to Milwaukee to tour the cathedral and then continue on to enjoy lunch at the Mader’s German Restaurant.
In June, Sandy Washburn will present on planting and caring for native gardens and their connection to our earthly home. we will also discuss Pope Francis “Our Common Home” and how we can help with our environment.
In May the Grayslake Fire Department will offer a presentation on fire safety. Enter the raffle for a new smoke and CO detector!
In April the outreach specialist from Fremont Library will present on services available to seniors. We will also pray the stations of the cross.
In March Fr. Joji will join the meeting to offer a talk on the religions of India with time for questions. Note there is not meeting scheduled for February.
