Lectors are trained and appointed to effectively proclaim the Scriptures at public worship. Through a lector’s proclamation, God’s Word comes alive and motivates the community to live and to spread the Gospel. Lectors are usually scheduled once a month to proclaim at a Mass. Additional lector opportunities occur during Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter. Individual training and lector workshops are offered.
Requirements: a member of St. Mary Parish of at least 15 years of age who has received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Lectors are required to attend a faith formation activity once a year. Once every two years a lector needs to participate in a lector workshop.
