Parish Choirs and Cantor Ministry

As St. Augustine said, “When one sings one prays twice.” Please consider praying twice at St. Mary! Interested singers, high-school age and older are invited to join our vibrant Music Ministry. The parish currently has two choirs – details are listed below. There is no audition necessary, just a love to sing. Interested singers, high school age and older are invited to join.

Anyone interested in auditioning to become a Cantor may setup an appointment.

Gaudete Choir

The Gaudete* Choir supports and amplifies the Assembly as a liturgical ensemble with an emphasis on more traditional repertoire. Interested singers high-school age and older are invited to join. This group is scheduled from September through the beginning of June. Rehearsal and Mass schedule are listed below.

* Gaudete is Latin for “Rejoice!”

Shouts of Joy Ensemble

The Shouts of Joy Ensemble praises God through song as a vocal/instrumental, liturgical ensemble that supports the Assembly with a more contemporary style of worship music. Interested singers high-school age and older are invited to join. This group is scheduled from September through July. Rehearsal and Mass schedule are listed below.

Cantors

Cantors lead and support the sung prayer of the whole assembly. This special ministry requires skills with multiple liturgical music styles. We are blessed to have a very talented group of volunteers who take on this responsibility every week.
